You can browse for items as a guest, but to buy and sell, you have to register. As a member you can buy and sell items, track up items that you are interested in, manage your buying and selling activities, open a store and advertise a wanted ad.

Registration & Login

When you register you'll be asked to read and agree to our Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy.

You also must agree that you are at least 18 years old and that you may receive communications from You can change your notification preferences in the Members Area. Don't worry- we won't share your personal information without your consent!

All the fields in the registration process are mandatory. You must also provide a valid Email address that you can check immediately. This is necessary for your account activation.

To register, go to the registration page, and follow these steps:

  1. Choose if you want to register a personal or a business account, and enter your contact and personal information. Your contact information includes your name, address, and phone number. Personal information includes your date of birth to verify that you are at least 18 years of age.
  2. Enter your Email address. You need to enter a working Email address that you can check immediately, because we'll send you an Email with instructions on how to complete your registration. We'll also use this Email address to notify you when you've won an item, and to share shipping and payment information with other buyers and sellers.
  3. If you have been referred by an agent please enter their name and the voucher code to activate your special offer.
  4. You can also enter your GST number if you open a business account. It is required if you wish to invoice your customers. Please check the IRD Website for more details.
  5. Read and accept our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. You must accept the agreements to continue with your registration.
  6. You can fill in the GST number and your PayPal, or Paymate details at a later stage.
  7. Choose a username and password. You'll use your username and password every time you login. You can't change your username so please choose it carefully. You can change your password anytime. In fact, we recommend changing the password periodically to improve your security measures.
  8. When you complete the form, check your Email. You'll receive a registration Email from us. Follow the instructions in the Email to confirm your registration and complete the registration process.

If you forgot your username or password, please go to Retrieve your Password page, follow the instructions, and we'll send your username or the instructions for resetting your password to your Email address. Back to Top

Managing your account

Your account is your identity on

You use your account to buy, sell, communicate with members, and leave feedback for trading partners. You can manage your account information from My Area. The information you see in My Area is private. No other member can see it.

Changing your personal information

Go to My Area page and select the Personal Information link to update your information, including: Account type- personal or business account, address, username, password, your PayPal, Paymate and Google Checkout details, and Email address for communicating with and other members.

If you have been referred by an agent please enter their name and the voucher code to activate your special offer. You can also enter your GST number if you open a business account. It is required if you wish to invoice your customers. Please check the IRD Website for more details.

Managing your seller account

Go to My Area page and select the Account History link. Here you can view your balance, the total of your latest invoice amount, payments, credits, and refunds. Just choose the dates to view or click on the Proceed button without any dates range to receive a complete list of your activity.


  • Change your password every 30-60 days, or if you think someone's accessed your account.
  • Don't use a fax or pager number as your telephone number.
  • If you change your Email address, you'll need access to the updated Email address to complete the process. The new address takes effect immediately.
  • Email addresses that automatically forward to another Email address will invalidate the digital signature that we put on Emails we send.
  • Some Email providers interpret an invalid signature as a spoof (fake) Email and block these messages or deliver them to your junk mail folder. Please check you spam/junk folder and assign emails from as safe. Most of our emails are from team at
  • Your address is where you'd like to receive the items you buy and it always appears by default when you pay using the Pay Now button.
  • To access your PayPal, Paymate, or Google Checkout accounts, please login to, or On these gateways you can securely access your account information including your account overview, account history, and profile summary. Mail preferences

To change your mail preferences, go to My Area page and select the Mail Preferences link. Here you can specify how and when you receive Email, newsletters, and promotions from us.

Sometimes you may experience problems receiving our Emails due to spam and junk mail filter settings. Most Email providers have a junk mail or spam folder. You should check this folder regularly to ensure that Email from or other traders isn't being put here rather than your Inbox folder. You can also add to your contacts list or safe list to ensure that Emails from are not blocked. Most Emails are sent from team at Back to Top

Becoming "Verified Seller"

Being a Verified Seller establishes your proof of identity, which helps both buyers and sellers feel confident trading with each other. Buyers can purchase from verified sellers with greater confidence. Sellers are therefore likely to increase their sales by becoming verified. Members who have verified their street address will have a “Verified Seller” icon accompany their name in If you wish to establish your credit as a buyer only, you can become a verified bidder.

We verify your street address by sending you a letter with a unique verification code to your address. For business accounts, the street address is where the business operates from. For personal accounts it is the residential address of the member. Seller and Buyer Verified letters are only sent to New Zealand addresses. You must use a physical street address and cannot use a PO Box.

When you receive your unique code you have to login to and go to the Contact Us page. To complete the process, all you have to do is to enter the verification code in the text area of the form and submit the form.

Please note: We can't guarantee a member's current street address. However, we know with some confidence that an individual who has asked to become Seller Verified is the same person that has entered the Unique Verification Code we sent them. We therefore have a physical address related to an Email address at a certain point in time. If you move, you retain your Seller Verified status when you move. It is your obligation to keep your address details up to date on In certain circumstances, may be legally required to disclose the address information of a member. Should we receive a court order or equivalent to release these details, we will do so. Seller and Buyer Verified are optional and cost only a minimal fee, to recover the postage and handling costs. You can find almost anything on, whether you have something specific in mind or you're just looking around. Still can't find what you're looking for? Thousands of new items are added every day. Buying on is safe and easy. We'll take you through it step-by-step:


It all starts with registration. Fortunately, it's free and fast. Register now, or learn more about it.

Find something to buy

Browse when you're not exactly sure what you're looking for, or when you just want to look around in a particular category, like "Clothing, Shoes & Accessories" or "Rugby & Sport Fan Shop". To browse, click on a category on the top of your page. Use "Search" when you're looking for something in particular. Just enter a few words to describe the item in the Search box, which is at the top of most pages.

Understand the buying format

There are lots of ways to buy on You'll find auctions where you bid against other members, Buy It Now listings for buying something right away at a set price, and more.


Your bid on auctions is an Auto Bid and keeps you in the lead by placing a bid for you whenever you're outbid. When you're outbid we will place the minimum allowable bid until you win the auction or your Auto-Bid is exceeded. No additional bid will be placed if you lead the bidding. You can increase an existing Auto Bid by placing a higher value Auto Bid but you cannot decrease it. You can keep track of your Auto-Bids in the bidding section in My Area.

Choose a payment method

Once you've found something you're interested in, read the description carefully to find out which payment methods the seller accepts. Most accept PayPal, Paymate and Google Checkout because it's fast and convenient. We use Paymate as our payment method. It is also the preferred payment method for most of our buyers and sellers.

Benefits of Paymate and PayPal include:

  • You can send payments quickly and securely online using a credit card, it is convenient and immediate and you can track the status of your payment.
  • You pay right from the item listing page and your payment is deposited directly into the seller's account and the sellers don't see your card number.
  • It's safely encrypted through PayPal's and Paymate's servers to help minimize any risk of unauthorised use.
  • Track your purchases
  • You can keep track of your purchases on My Area. After you register, you'll get your own My Area page where you can see what's happening with items you've bought and sold.
  • You'll be able to keep track of your feedback from other members, and you'll even be able to keep an eye on other items you're interested in buying. Back to Top

Managing your bidding activity

Don't miss out on a great deal. Keep track of all the items you're buying or watching in your Buying section in the My Area.

Managing items you're watching

The Watching section in My Area let you track items that interest you before you bid or buy. You can add any active listing to your watch list. To add an item to your watch list, click the "Watch this item" link in the listing. To manage items you're watching, go to the Buying section in My Area and click on the Watching link. To delete an item from your watch list, select the check box next to the listing title and click the Delete button.

Managing items you're bidding on

In the Buying section of My Area you can view all the items you're currently bidding on, whether or not you're the current high bidder.

To manage items you're bidding on go tothe Buying section in My Area and click on the Bidding link. After a listing ends, it automatically moves to the Won link if you have won the auction. You can't delete an active item until the listing ends.

Buying multi-quantity listings

Some listings have more than one item to sell. You have to select the quantity you want before you click the Buy It Now or the Place Bid buttons.

Swap Offer

Some items have the Swap Offer available. You can ask the seller to swap the item for another. It is only valid until the first bid.

Make Offer

The Make Offer option let you ask to purchase the item at a price that you choose. Click on the button and offer the seller your price within the offered range. It is only valid until the first bid.

Buy It Now

The Buy It Now button lets you offer to purchase the item at a fixed price. Click on the button to purchase the item immediately. Most of the time a Buy It Now offer is accompanied by special shipping offer if you choose to pay online. It is only valid until the first bid.

When the listing is over

After the listing is over and if you won the item, you'll need to pay for it and leave feedback. Use the Won Items link in the Bidding section in My Area to view all your recent purchases and check whether you've paid for the items and left feedback for the seller. Use the message board to contact the seller directly and also view his bank details.

Invoices Received

You can view the invoices of auctions that you have won in the Invoices Received link in the Bidding Section. If the seller accepts online payments, you can pay immediately with your PayPal, Paymate or Google Checkout account.

Resolving buying problems

If you run into trouble with a transaction on, it's usually best to try contacting and communicating directly with your seller before you do anything else. We suggest you allow 5 days for the seller to reply and during this time you can send them a number of Emails stating your wish to complete the deal. You should also check your spam filters aren't stopping their Emails. When you use PayPal to pay for items you buy, you can also turn to the PayPal Buyer Protection program and PayPal Resolution Center for help. If you have given the seller a reasonable amount of time to reply to your Emails and you still haven't received a response, we recommend that you place feedback on them. Listing an item for sale on is a commitment from the seller to sell the item and the seller is obliged to complete the sale. If they refuse to complete the sale, you can place appropriate feedback on them. Sellers who repeatedly back out of auctions will have their membership suspended. If no other remedy can be found, please click on Request End of Auction Fee Refund button that is found on your sold items page. Use the refund requests link in the My Account section to view your requests and check whether you've been refunded. Back to Top

Your favourite stores

When you browse in the stores pages, you can always add a store to your favourite stores list by clicking on the link near the store name. Clicking again on the link will remove the store from your favourite stores list. To manage stores you're watching, go to the Bidding section in My Area and click on the Favourite stores link. To delete an item from your Favourite Stores list, select the check box next to the store title and click the Delete button. Back to Top

Keyword Watch

The Keyword Watch link in the Bidding section in My Area lets you track items that interest you when they are listed. You can add any keyword to your list and you will be notified by Email when a new listing containing any of your keywords starts. To manage Keywords you're watching, go to the Bidding section in My Area and click on the Keyword Watch link. To add an item to your Keyword Watch list, click the "Add Keyword". To delete an item, select the check box next to the Keyword and click the Delete button. Back to Top

As a seller, you are responsible for reviewing and understanding selling policies, as well as all applicable laws and regulations. Violation of policies can result in a range of actions including: listing cancellation, forfeit of fees on cancelled listings and account suspension. Whether you're starting a business or just want to make some extra cash, selling on is a fun way to do it. Back to Top

Managing your selling activity

Communicating with buyers and managing your listings well are important aspects of selling. You can keep track of all your items and transactions in the Selling section of My Area. Your current auctions can be found under the Selling link and your future auctions under the Scheduled link. If other members are bidding on your auctions or offering you special offers such as Swap Offer or Make Offer, you will see the details under the View Bids/Offers link. From the Sold auctions link you can review your sold listings, contact the buyer via the message board and send him your bank account details. You can also issue invoices. If you have an online store and you have included your GST number, this will be a tax invoice. Here you can offer a Second Chance Offer if you would like to assign the winner manually.

With a Second Chance Offer you can offer an item to any buyer who bid on the listing in the following situations:

  • The winning bidder doesn't pay you.
  • The auction was a multi-quantity listing.
  • The reserve price was not met in a reserve price auction.

Block Members

If you want to prevent certain buyers from bidding on your items, add their usernames to your blocked Members list. Enter the username and click the Submit button. In addition, if you want a bidder to see the reason they have been blocked, you can choose to display it to them. If that bidder visits your auction your reason will be displayed to them. Creating effective listing

Selling on is safe and easy. We'll take you through it step-by-step:

Research your item and know the rules for safe selling

Do some research- especially about setting a starting price, listing format, and category. This will help you create a good listing and get the best price for your item. Compare your item with active and completed listings on based on category, format, and selling price. Educate yourself about policies on prohibited and restricted items, as well as what's okay and what's not okay when listing and completing the sale.

Create your listing

Click on the sell button at the top to start the listing process. We will provide you with hints on the fields that you need to fill and at the end of the process you can choose to list your item or to save it as a draft. You can come back to your draft from the Draft link in the Selling section of My Area page.

Selecting a category

Help buyers find your item by selecting the category that best describes it. Be precise with your category selection; ensure it is the most relevant one for your item.

In some cases, we might change your listing's category if you have selected a category that doesn't match your item. One way to find a category is to check what other sellers have used for similar items.

You can also choose to advertise the item in an additional category and double your exposure chances.

Writing a good advertisement

Your item's title and description are your advertisement, an opportunity to both inform and excite buyers. Writing a good title and description will significantly increase the chances of your listing being found and sold. Make a clear and compelling first impression by writing a great title for your item.

Be sure to follow CraftMe's rules regarding titles:

  • Use multiple and descriptive keywords that clearly convey what you are selling and use all allowed characters.
  • Include your item's brand name and item-specific attributes. For example, if selling shoes, include size, colour and condition.
  • State exactly what your item is, even if your title repeats the category name. Remember to use correct spelling.
  • Don't use ALL CAPS.
  • Do not use titles that fail to state what the nature of the item is.
  • Do not use titles that contain website addresses, Email addresses or phone numbers. The only exception to this rule is the sale of domain names.

These types of listings are not permitted and will be closed:

  • Titles that contain profane or obscene language.
  • Titles that use the following words in an attempt to market or advertise their item: "prohibited", "banned", "illegal", "outlawed", or any other descriptive word which may bring into question the legality of an item by either governmental or CraftMe standards.
  • Titles that include brand names other than the specific brand name used by the company that manufactured or produced the item you are listing. This is called keyword spamming and is not allowed on

Writing a great description

Tell your story. Many sellers have found that adding a creative, human approach to their descriptions boosts bids and sales. Add some details- what the item is, when and where it was made, the company/artist/designer/author that made it, the condition of the item; whether it is new, used, or still under warranty. Be sure to mention any flaws or repairs. When you are finished, check the spelling of your description for accuracy.

Do not include:

  • Trademarked logos unless you have permission to use them.
  • Anything that is not true.
  • Unrelated keywords which aim to lure buyers searching for these words. (For example, do not say, "If you like iPhone, you'll like this phone"). This is known as "keyword spamming" and is against listing policies. Prohibited or restricted items as outlined in policies on prohibited and restricted items.
  • Item descriptions copied word-for-word from other sources such as other websites, other listings or manufacturer websites- unless you have permission to use them.

Fill the details

You can create an auction-style or a fixed price listing and also use additional options.

Buy It now only Listings

To create a fixed price listing only, enter the same price for the start and for the Buy It now fields in the auction details page. Listing upgrades such as highlighting, font, and picture enhancements make your item stand out. (Additional cost may accrue, as outlined in the fees page). When you upload your pictures, please remember that they have a greater impact than language. For best results choose pictures with a white or light background and don't put a frame around it.

Multi-Quantity Listings

Use multi-quantity listings for items with variations or if you have more than one unit to sell in the same auction. If you sell multiple versions of a product- like a T-shirt in various colours and sizes, you can list all the variations in one multi-quantity auction.

Reserve Price Option

A Reserve Price is the lowest price at which you're willing to sell your item. It is not shown to bidders, but they see that your auction has a reserve price that has not been met. If a bidder doesn't meet that price, you aren't obliged to sell your item. Use it when you feel that starting your auction with high price discourages interest in your item, while an attractively low starting price makes you vulnerable to selling at an unsatisfactorily low price.


You can relist your items automatically by choosing this option. You can select whether the item should be re-listed if sold and how times it will be relisted.

Offer Range

Enter an offer range, so users can make offers on your item. You can accept the offer and close the auction at any time so the bidder doesn't need to wait until the end of the auction. Valid only until first bid.

Private Auction

Bidders on this auction will be hidden to other members, and only you can see the usernames of the bidders. Bid amounts will still be visible.

Swap Offers

Swap your item with the bidder's item (let bidders suggest you swap offers). Valid only until first bid.

Calculate the shipping cost

Be as specific as you can about your shipping costs. Buyers feel more compelled to bid and buy when they know the shipping costs beforehand. Package, weigh, and measure your item so you can calculate shipping. Visit the NZ post website to learn more about shipping your items. You can also set your automatic rates for your auctions at the Global Shipping Setup link in the Selling section in My Area.

Be clear about payment methods you accept

If you choose to use Paymate, PayPal or Google Checkout as online payment methods, buyers can pay you immediately with their credit cards. You can specify a special shipping price for these online payment methods. This amount will be automatically added at the end of the auction, giving the buyers the option to pay immediately (with online payment) after the auction ends.

Preview your listing

Preview your listing, review your fees and list your auction.

You can save your listing as a draft and list later, from the Drafts link in the Selling section of My Area page. Back to Top

Global Setup & drafts

When you preview your listing, you can save it as a draft and list it later. You can even save multiple drafts. You can see your drafts, edit the listings and list them in the Drafts link of the Selling section in the My Area page.

Use the Global Auction Setup and Global Shipping Setup to save you from multiple data entry.Here you can specify details such as item title, description, duration, shipping and payment options to be filled in automatically in all your auctions. You can delete or change these details in the Global Auction Setup and Global Shipping Setup links at any time.Whenever you list a new item, these fields are automatically populated; however you can still manually change them in any listing. My Store

All about opening a store Stores are a special part of where individual sellers can display all of the items they have for sale and share more about their business in their own customized pages. In most Stores there are additional fixed price (Buy It Now) items which are not available in regular search results or categories in This means you have access to thousands of additional items when you search or browse in Stores. Opening a store in is an easy, hassle-free and convenient way to have your own website. You do not have to be a web designer or have to purchase, install and maintain an expensive shopping software package.
Today you can open an online store in a few easy steps at a very affordable price. This allows you to concentrate on your business, not on building websites. In fact, you can open a store in less than 5 minutes and start selling straight away.

Opening a store

With an Store, you'll get everything you need to create a central shopping destination where buyers can learn about you and all the products you sell. In a few minutes you can design your store, upload your logo and create your store pages to produce a professional online store.

You can also send tax invoices to your customers directly from All you have to do is apply for a business account (it's free!), fill in your GST number and when you list items, choose the Tax Invoices option.

Learn how to get started with CraftMe Stores:

Under My Store area in My Area you will find your Main Setting, Store Pages, Custom Categories and Subscription Setup links. Design your store, preview the results and make any desired changes. When you are happy with the results, go back to the Subscription Setup page and choose your preferred store plan. Enable the store and choose your store plan. You can start by choosing the free store.

Please remember that disabling/enabling your store, or upgrading/downgrading a store plan will incur repayment for the new plan and we are not able to refund or credit you for the unused period of the current store subscription.

If you have just subscribed to a store, you will be directed to the Store Front page. Here you can choose your store name and add a description to your store homepage. Do not forget to upload your store logo as it is the gateway to your store, so be creative while choosing your logo. For best results choose a logo with a white background and don't include a frame. Managing your store

In the My Store area of My Area you will find the Store Pages link. Here you can choose how many Store Featured Items, Ending Soon, and New Arrivals will be represented on your store homepage.

Add content to your store. Design your pages creatively and tell your story. Many sellers have found that adding a creative, human approach to their store descriptions boosts bids and sales. Add some details such as what you sell, when and where it was made, the company/artist/designer/author details and the condition of the items (whether new, used, or still under warranty).

Custom Categories

Choose the categories for your store in the Custom Categories page. If you don't select any categories for your store, all the site's categories will be available by default. Please remember: When you list an item in "Store Only" option, you can only choose from the categories you have selected for your store. If you subscribed to a store plan with custom categories enabled, you can create a number of custom categories that will be unique to your store. Click on the subcategories icon on the left to create subcategories under your unique categories.

These types of Stores are not permitted and will be closed:

  • Stores that contain profane or obscene language.
  • Stores that use the following words in an attempt to market or advertise their item: "prohibited", "banned", "illegal", "outlawed", or any other descriptive word which may bring into question the legality of an item by either governmental or CraftMe standards.

My reputation

Feedback represents your reputation as an member. It's made up of comments and ratings left by other members who you have bought from and sold to. Whenever you buy or sell something, we ask that you leave Feedback about the transaction which reflects your experience with the seller or buyer. At the same time, we ask your trading partner to leave Feedback about you.

Over time, members of the community develop a reputation Profile based on the comments and ratings left by other members. The Feedback Score is one of the most important aspects of a Feedback Profile. It's the number in parentheses next to a member's username and it's also located at the top of the member's Feedback Profile. Back to Top

Leave Feedback

Leaving honest comments gives members a good idea of what to expect when dealing with other members. Leaving Feedback is also a way to increase the goodwill of the community by expressing your appreciation for a job well done. Finally, if you are a buyer, you can help spread the word about a seller you like, and if you are a seller, you can help recognize and reward loyal customers, which encourages them to buy from you again.

In addition to leaving a general positive, neutral, or negative rating for a seller, buyers can be more specific by leaving detailed seller ratings. As a buyer, you can rate your seller in these additional areas: General feedback, communication, shipping time, and shipping and handling charges. Please remember that feedback comments become a permanent part of a seller's record. If you are a buyer, contact your seller to try to resolve any issues before leaving neutral or negative Feedback. Please make sure that your comments are fair, based in fact and relate to the specific transaction for which you received the Feedback request. Back to Top

For a pleasant experience on , we don't allow hateful, offensive, profane, or vulgar language in any area of the website. Hateful, obscene, offensive, racist, sexual, or violent words are not allowed anywhere on

Offensive usernames, profane language to describe an item for sale, and profanity in a listing title or description are also not allowed. All items with profanity have to meet the following criteria: the majority of the profane word has to be replaced with asterisks (for example, f*** or s***).
